Top 5 IPs Needing the MMOG Treatment
There are far too many properties that beg for an MMOG to be made using their license that it is really disturbing to see so many crappy ones come out instead. With companies trying to treat anything like it could make a good MMOG just for the sake of cashing in an extra buck, here’s some they obviously missed.
5. Pokemon - Seriously. There would be nothing not fun about this game. Plenty of PvE content, unlimited potential for PvP content, sure it may be a bit on the shallow side (what is there to do, really, except fight?) but that would, much like it’s single-player counterparts, be part of the charm. Oh and…just imagine how often you would see this:

4. Dune - Do I even need to start? It’s the Sci-Fi genre’s version of Lord of the Rings. If you haven’t read the books, go ahead and do it, you’ll probably be waiting for the MMO then too.

3. .hack - Let’s be honest, the whole single-player game where you play in an MMO world is cool, but let’s actually play in an MMO world.
2. MechWarrior - Robots. Giant Robots. With guns. Does one need anything more to make an awesome game? What if you had the ability to say build a giant robot that you designed? Sounds awesome? It would be. A franchise wasted on shooters for the most part, but it could so easily be transformed into an MMOG. And, for those of you who think it would be shallow I advise you to spend some time learning about the MechWarrior/Battletech universe. There is plenty more to it than piloting robots blowing up the other guy, though why they need it I’m not sure.

1. Shadowrun - The entire game world and design practically begs to be made into an MMO. This is a game that couldn’t possibly make a bad MMO if the developers tried. It simply works. It doesn’t matter whether you like fantasy or sci-fi or anything in between, the SR world has something. Not to mention, it’s based on Earth, and there is something to be said for seeing landmarks you know about in a future setting. The fact that this brilliant RPG license was turned into an FPS is a travesty and the design team responsible should be killed.
So, love the list? Hate it? How bad did I screw it up for you?

MechWarrior would rock!
I would also suggest Fallout.

Actually, you could have pretty much all of these in a single MMORPG. Go around in your magic-enhanced giant robot, protecting spice harvesters from hackers and collecting weird animals.
Ok, maybe leave pokemon out of it. Don’t like the thing anyway, so no big loss =P
