Dungeon Runners - Worth it to Pay to Play?

by

dr_250.jpgI just got a slightly disheartening note in my inbox. The Dungeon Runners membership billing is going live on the 31st of January. Given, the cost of membership is only $5 a month, but I must say I’ll miss all my awesome loot that I could use for free, and all those lovely stackable potions that I had.

Now, for a while yet, the game will still be invite only, and there is of course the option to still choose the free method, but really the membership has the best items and extras, and without it I’m not sure if the game would be worth playing all that much, except as an occasional distraction.

As one person had suggested on the beta forums, they should make the game completely free, for everyone, just put in-game ads and sponsorships. To be honest, with the type of game it is, I’d be all for it. For those that haven’t played the game, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, it makes fun of other games, and itself, a lot of the time. It’s a great light-hearted dungeon crawling game, and it would fit perfectly to see some items “sponsored by Coca-Cola”.

At any rate, I do encourage people to go and check out the game, even the free version to see if you like it. Perhaps it’s take on gaming will catch you right away.
