Blog Highlight: Tobold’s MMORPG Blog
I was going to use this as a post of the week to highlight a particularly well written article that deserved some extra attention, but I decided I’d like to highlight the entire blog instead, because it’s got a lot of good stuff in there.
To start, the article I had planned on highlighting was this article, about MMOs and difficulty. Take the time to read it over, it’s a good read.
I don’t want to spoil too much of the article as it deserves a full read of it’s own but I would have to say the talk of risks and difficulty had me thinking about another article I plan on writing. It also reminded me of a picture I wanted to share that someone from the WoW forums posted once. I don’t know why this particular post reminded me of it, but it did.

But, enough from the rabbits, here’s the link to the blog.

I just wanted to quote the line below because while the rest of the article was written in a very informed and interesting way I found this bit disturbing. He is using WoW as the basic example which is fine and really to be expected. But he must be playing a different game then I play to make that comment, since most players have completely the opposite to be found in thier case.
“Often all the group members already play their class reasonably well and have grasped basic concepts of aggro management.”

I did find that a bit disconcerting. I suppose in the most general sense of not everyone in the pick-up group is a complete moron it may be a little more true, but for the most part people don’t seem to understand how to play their class.
I figure it’s got to be the alts they all play. They never bothered learning how to play as they leveled the class, just got dragged through everywhere so they don’t understand.
